Rapid Interpretation of EKG's 6th Edition by Dale Dubin

The reader's rapid assimilation of medical concepts is the key to the continuing success of this best-selling book. A caption explains the concept illustrated on each page, and a few simple sentences reinforce the concept with interactive (programmed) learning, which links to the following page. Dr. Dubin's light and entertaining style, known world-wide, makes learning enjoyable. Practice twelve-lead tracings at the end establish self-confidence, and summarised reference sheets with examples (designed to be copied) provide an excellent review. This work is most recently updated in February 2006.

Rapid Interpretation of EKG's 6th Edition by Dale Dubin Review

Got this book (I am a 2nd year DO student) at the suggestion of just about everyone in the primary care dept. at our school and many of the upperclassmen as well. I have to say, it definitely lives up to the hype.

One thing I like is that it is written so accessibly, so that someone without a prior background in the subject can totally understand it. He is very innovative in his teaching methods by adding helpful and simplistic diagrams and examples of EKGs, and the style of writing, where there are blanks you fill in mentally as you go along. This helps because people, especially medical students, who are constantly reading, can get exhausted over time and start to drift. The fill in the blanks method (the answers are provided of course, in the right margin) keeps your brain working and building those synaptic pathways.

At the end there are very useful quick review sheets that you can also access online (print out and stick in your white coat, perhaps, if you're on a rotation) which was an excellent way to remind you of the important points when you're trying to review and don't have a lot of time to go over every single thing.

Great book. I will definitely keep it as a lifetime reference.
